The route of the 1st part of the flight
Our flight starts in Ruoms and heads downstream along the Ardèche river. We fly over the Sampzon rock, Labastide de Virac and the Pont d’Arc. Then come the Ardèche gorges, the Tiourre valley, the Gaud cirque and the Templar monastery. Then there’s Saint Matin d’Ardèche, Aiguèze, the Saint Marcel cave, the Madeleine cirque and the Cathedral. We then turn off to the north (see part 2 and part 3).

From the heights, you can admire the winding meanders of the river, carved out of the limestone over time. The garigue vegetation lining the gorges contrasts with the whiteness of the cliffs, creating a vibrant array of colours and textures. The hilltop villages and ancient castles stand proud. They are a reminder of the region’s rich historical past.
