The Chastelas de Grospierre and the Font Vive resurgence
The Chastelas de Grospierre and the Font Vive resurgence are two places you really must visit.
The ruins of the chastelas de Grospierre
Dating back to the 11th century, the Chastelas de Grospierre is an old village of which a number of buildings remain. An association isconsolidating the ruins of the old village to preserve the site as a place of pilgrimage, escape and remembrance. It calls on the services of young volunteers.
Where to stay in Grospierre
Grospierre is just half an hour from Mas de la Fontenette. We recommend this gite with swimming pool in the Ardèche. This farmhouse is rated 4 stars. In the heart of the Ardèche gorges, with its swimming pool, wellness area (jacuzzi, sauna), pétanque court and table football, you’ll be able to relax after your visits.

Route to the Chastelas de Grospierre
The road through Vallon, then Ruoms, is very busy in high season. That’s why we recommend going via Vagnas, then Bessas, the Col de la Serre and finally Le Chastelas. You’ll love this second, more winding, quiet and wild route. Click on the image below for the Mas de la Fontenette – Chastelas de Grospierre itinerary.

The Font vive resurgence, a natural swimming pool in need of protection
From the Chastelas de Grospierre, hike back down to Font Vive. This is a beautiful spring with crystal-clear water, known as the Vauclusian type. This Font Vive spring is fed by extremely pure water, which flows through the entire thickness of the limestone plateau that dominates it.
At the foot of the Chastelas ruins, the siphon of this Font de Vive resurgence opens out into a magnificent natural pool. It’s a real little masterpiece of nature that we invite you to come and enjoy.
