Our gite with heated pool in ardeche. The infinity pool at Mas de la Fontenette measures 10m x 4m. Our swimming pool is heated either by our solar panels (free of charge) or by EDF (invoiced at actual cost by specific meter), depending on the temperature you require. The pool is for your exclusive use. No-one but you has access to your pool. This is a salt water pool, meaning that no liquid chlorine is added. You swim in very slightly salty water (10 times less than seawater). The chemical transformation of the salt, by electrolysis, disinfects the pool. The effectiveness of this system results in crystal-clear water that doesn’t smell of chlorine and doesn’t irritate the skin. On the contrary, the water is very soft, very pleasant and completely transparent.
An infinity pool
An infinity pool creates the illusion that the water extends to infinity, often blending in with a surrounding landscape or the sky.

The view from the pool and the arbour
The large terrace of the gite with swimming pool in the Ardèche, that of the swimming pool and the 3 shaded arbours offer you a fantastic view of the old village and its castle, with the Cévennes in the background. Every day, you’ll have the opportunity to watch exceptional sunsets with their magical reflections on the surface of the pool.
You may also see one or more eagles flying over the valley in front of the pool. This is the territory of Bonelli’s eagle, as well as that of the circaeton, a bird with a wingspan of up to 1.60 metres. From time to time, they pass a few dozen metres above the pool. Griffon vultures also occasionally fly over the property.
To the west, the Cévennes mountain range with its peak, Mont Aigual at 1567m. In between, the villages of Labastide de Virac, Vagnas and Bessas and, a little further on, the Chassezac gorges. To the north, you can see the Mezenc and Mont Gerbier de Jonc on the horizon, with the source of the Loire at the foot of the latter. You can also see the Rocher de Sampzon, a magnificent promontory with a 360° view. Vallon Pont d’Arc and Salavas remain hidden by the forest
Gite with heated swimming pool in Ardèche
The swimming pool is heated on request by a heat pump powered by 2 separate sources of electricity, our solar installation and EDF.
- Our solar system provides us with free electricity, but only for a few hours during the day. 7 to 8 hours in summer, much less in the low season. Nevertheless, it allows us to gain a few degrees.
- EDF charges for its services according to consumption.
If you make do with the temperature obtained thanks to the solar panels, the heating is free. If you want heating that’s more suited to your preferences, you’ll be charged an additional cost based on your actual electricity consumption (as measured by the specific meter when you arrive and again when you leave). As we are in the midst of global warming, we are trying to minimise our impact by making users more responsible.
Of course, between July and September, there is no need to heat the pool. In addition, a thermal cover (solar bubble cover on a roller) helps to limit heat loss.
