Dolmen de la Font au Loup - Labastide de Virac (Ardèche)

A megalith dating from the Neolithic period

Situated at the bend in the road between Labastide de Virac and Orgnac l’Aven, the Font du Loup dolmen is easily accessible. It’s a 10-minute drive, a 1-hour hike or a 20-minute mountain bike ride from Mas de la Fontenette. This is one of the most beautiful gites in the Ardèche, with a heated infinity pool . This dolmen is fairly well preserved. Close to this first dolmen is a second dolmen if you continue along the path to the left.

Over 900 dolmens in the Ardèche

This dolmen is one of over 900 megaliths in the Ardèche, a department with more megaliths than Brittany. It probably bears witness to the burial practices and beliefs of the region’s Neolithic populations. Also accessible from Mas de la Fontenette are the Champagnac dolmen, the Devèze dolmen and the Oeillantes dolmens.
