An Unbeatable View

The summit of Sampzon, accessible via well-marked footpaths, offers panoramic views of the Gorges de l’Ardèche, Mont Ventoux and even the Cévennes. It’s the ideal spot for photography and nature lovers. The site is a superb 360° vantage point at an altitude of 381 metres. It dominates the whole region, offering an impressive circular view of the Ruoms basin, the Ardèche, the Vallon basin and the entrance to the gorges, the whole of the Lower Vivarais as far as the Cévennes, the Ardèche mountains and Mont Lozère. Its rustic Romanesque church is well worth a visit.

Hiking and Adventure

It is also the starting point for a number of hiking, horse-riding and mountain biking trails. The GR4 passes nearby.

Nautical activities

Close to the River Ardèche, Sampzon is perfect for water-based activities. Canoeing is a popular activity, allowing you to discover the gorges and their majestic cliffs.
