Built in the 12th century, the Tour de Brison is an important vestige of the region’s medieval past. The Brison castral complex dates from the 12th century, at the same time as the fortified complexes in Largentière and the surrounding area (Montréal, Tauriers, Chassiers, Fanjeaux, etc.). An exceptional lookout post (at an altitude of 800m), it was intended to help protect the silver mines in Largentière. Around 1705, the stones were used to build the “new castle” above the hamlet of Brison.
Panoramic view
At the top, the reward is as great as the effort. The Tour de Brison offers an exceptional 360-degree panorama. You can see the Cévennes, the Alps and even Mont Ventoux on a clear day. An ideal spot for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers.
A place to relax
The area around the tower is perfect for a picnic with family and friends. Picnic tables are set out nearby, allowing visitors to relax while enjoying the view.

Easily accessible from the villages of Sanilhac and Chassiers, the Tour de Brison is an ideal day trip. The trails are well-maintained and suitable for all levels of hiker.
