From the Mas de la Fontenette, our magnificent gite with swimming pool in the Ardèche, it takes around 1.5 hours to drive to the Ardèche mountains and the Col de la Chavade.

The Chambon forest is a beautiful hiking area aboveAubenas in the Ardèche mountains. The summits rise to 1609m. Today, the Verrerie barn is nothing more than a ruin on a fairly arid plateau.
The Bauzon cross
Situated in the Ardèche, in the heart of the Tanargue massif, at an altitude of 1365 metres, the Croix de Bauzon ski resort is a great place to go downhill with the whole family.
The Domaine nordique de la Chavade
Fans of cross-country skiing will love the Chavade Nordic ski area. It can be reached from the Col de la Chavade.
The La Chavade Nordic area is a popular cross-country skiing destination, with over 50km of well-maintained, marked trails. Situated between 1380 and 1504 metres above sea level, the area benefits from pleasant, if unpredictable, snow conditions during the winter season. The runs, which are suitable for all abilities, pass through breathtaking landscapes of forests and snow-covered plateaux. As well as cross-country skiing, the resort also offers snowshoeing and biathlon. La Chavade is an ideal place for nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts, offering an authentic and peaceful Nordic experience. You can enjoy a meal at the Pas de l’âne restaurant.
